HISTORY
Originally an elegant Roman nymphaeum, after a long period of decline the Grotto was brought back to light in 1826 by two German painters, August Kopisch and Ernst Fries. Overcoming all the fears and superstitions of the time, the two men made their way into the cave and were immediately enraptured.

Transportation
The entrance to the cave can only be made with small rowing boats.
Visiting Rules
- All visitors will be subjected to the body temperature measurement at the following points: pier boarding of the motorboats for transport to the Grotto; space in front of the access to the steps leading to the wharf; water surface dedicated to boarding for those who will arrive by their own boat.
- It will not be allowed to approach people with body temperature above 37.5°; these people will be invited to return immediately to their homes and to inform their personal doctor.
- No visitors will be admitted to the cave without a face mask.
- Entrance to the cave can only be by small rowing boats (own ticket office) and is subject to restrictions.
