Ca' Rezzonico. History
Ca’ Rezzonico was commissioned by the noble Bon family to the greatest Venetian Baroque architect, Baldassarre Longhena, in 1649. Work was only completed in 1751 by the new owners, the Rezzonico family.
The final phase of the work was overseen by Massari, whom we have to thank for the wonderful façade on the Grand Canal, the entrance staircase and the magnificent ballroom.
At the end of the 19th century Ca' Rezzonico was the sumptuous residence of the English poet Robert Browning who chose to spend the final years of his life here.

Visiting Ca' Rezzonico is a unique experience. The exhibits, distributed over four floors, will give you an excellent idea of the pomp and splendour of 18th century Venice.
You will be able to admire the remarkable frescoes by Tiepolo, the landscapes by Guardi and Canaletto, the delicate but intense pastels by Rosalba Carriera and the portraits by Longhi. You will marvel at the majesty of the ballroom, the incredible Flemish tapestries and the rare beauty of Brustolon’s sculptures. You will be enchanted by the perfection and delicacy of Antonio Corradini’s Veiled Woman and the 17th century Due San Marchi pharmacy, reconstructed here using the original furnishings and ceramics.
