Civic Museum Antonino Olmo and Gipsoteca Davide Calandra

A VISIT TO THE MUSEUM AND THE GIPSOTECA

Inaugurated in 1970, the museum houses archaeological finds, the civic collection (16th-20th century) and works of art from important private donations. These include the collection of paintings, furniture and sculptures by the Pensa di Marsaglia and Frutteri di Costigliole families, with the Flemish triptych of the Stories of Job and the Crucifixion by Defendente Ferrari; the donation by Teresa Milanollo with relics from the concert career of the two violinist sisters of Savigliano; the collection of paintings and sculptures by the collector Attilio Bonino; the reconstruction of the ancient Ospedale Farmacia Ospedaliera SS. Annunziata Hospital in Savigliano.

The Gipsoteca Davide Calandra, whose setting followed the donation of Elena Calandra Cravero, exhibits casts, sketches, plaster and terracotta models of the Turin sculptor who died in 1915; of notable importance is the cast of the great Frieze of the Aula di Montecitorio in Rome.

The Civic Museum also includes spaces dedicated to temporary exhibitions, a room illustrating the history of urban evolution in Savigliano and some multimedia stations.
