The Civic Museum of Casale Monferrato occupies the rooms of the architectural complex of Santa Croce, which has had an uninterrupted life for six centuries.
The visit to the Pinacoteca is divided into 18 rooms; the collection, created thanks to the will and legacy of Countess Clara Leardi, was formed through donations, acquisitions and deposits from the second half of the nineteenth century. Leonardo Bistolfi's Gipsoteca occupies the first floor of the Civic Museum.

VISITING THE MUSEUM
Representing the figurative culture of Casale, the Picture Gallery testifies the central role long occupied by the city of Casale in the national and international panorama. The collection includes works of painting on canvas, on wood, on glass and on mirror; ceramics, wooden and stone sculptures, some silverware, the collection of honours by Giovanni Lanza, two silk frontals and a Flemish tapestry: very different types, covering a period from the end of the 14th to the end of the 19th century.
The Gipsoteca exhibits over one hundred and seventy works including terracottas, drawings, plastic models, sketches and models in plaster, some marbles and bronzes; the first nucleus of the collection was donated by the Casale banker Camillo Venesio (1958) and later integrated with other donations and works on deposit. These materials make it possible to understand the different phases of the artistic process of Bistolfi, one of the major international interpreters of Symbolism.
Carlo Vidua. A life on the road, from Monferrato to the East End(1785-1830) is the title of the new important exhibition which, starting from 15 December 2018, will enrich the Civic Museum's offer. It is part of the extraordinary ethnographic collection of Carlo Vidua (Casale Monferrato 1785 - Ambon, Indonesia 1830) preserved - almost unpublished - in the deposits of the Civic Museum.
Visiting the Civic Museum of Casale Monferrato means getting to know and appreciate an area rich in art and culture. We are waiting for you!
