VISITING THE MUSEUM
Located at the entrance to the village of the medieval castle of Santa Severa, the spaces of the two-floor museum, approximately 770 m2 in area, were once occupied by apartments.
Opened in 1993 and completely refurbished in 2016, over the years it has been enriched with exhibition spaces and new finds from the littoral waters between Alsium and Centumcellae.
Walking through the museum’s seven rooms you will be amazed by the over 450 artefacts documenting different aspects of maritime life, from amphorae to fossils, parts of wrecks and naval carpentry tools.
Visiting the Museum is like being catapulted back in time into the evocative world of ancient mariners and you’ll feel like you are walking through a real port. Give into your curiosity and come and visit us!
